Energy Drinks Adults Only

Energy Drinks: Adults Only

Are those vitamin B energy shots good for you?

They are sold at the drug store and have vitamins, so they must be ok right? Well, energy drinks and shots are for occasional use only.

I would not use any of these type of drinks more than once a week. These shots have massive doses of vitamin b combined with caffeine and some times other herbs. They do wake you up but they can have some bad side effects, like the jitters and flushing of the face. Over use of these products can lead to stress of the liver and kidneys. If you are going to use these energy shots and drinks follow the directions carefully.

I recommend some healthier and less  physically stressful ways to get a boost when you  need one. If you are feeling tired more often these days, try some electrolytes. Electrolyte depletion and imbalances can make you feel run down. This can happen after a long work out , or after taking medication. Some good sources of electrolytes are unsweetened coconut water, sugarless sports drinks, and pediatric electrolyte drink found in the baby section of the drug store. You might be surprised at how much better you feel after getting some electrolytes into your system.

A little tea or coffee in the afternoon can be good thing. Too much caffeine is not. More than 6 cups of coffee a day is bad for you in the exact same way that energy drinks are. However coffee and especially green tea have tons on antioxidants. Coffee is said to be a mild antidepressant. Green tea is associated with lower cancer rates.

Try a little yerba mate tea. This tea is the national drink of Argentina. This tea has a natural combination of vitamin B and caffeine. Yerba mate is found at heath food stores and tea shops.

We all have those too busy times when we feel the need for some extra energy. Try to do this naturally and slowly. This will lead to more energy all the time and prevent you from crashing or being left tired from and energy drink or sugar-caffeine crash.
