It’s really good to be back home. One month had passed and I loved every bit of it. Among the many things I had done were meeting up with friends and family I’ve not seen for the past 9 months; explored tropical jungles that lead you to beaches; and ate in a cafe decorated with old, antique Chinese potties …

Thinking about the limited time I have here in Malaysia, saddens me sometimes. I try to push those thoughts aside but they never fail to return occasionally. I love home and spending time here. I’m gonna try and enjoy my summer before it is up!

I will never let you die, will never leave you hungry....

I am. It’s gonna be in the papers.

I don’t care if Anonymous didn’t carry it out, coz either way, the dictators WILL BE SHAMED.

They already shut their servers down.

Wait. Wouldn’t it be funny if Anonymous was just playing around and they just shut off ALL of their websites…

…embarassing much?

It is the brightest of days in the darkest of nights.

THIS WILL TEACH YOU TO CENSOR THE INTERNET.

Greetings, Malaysia, We have seen the censorship taken by the Malaysian government, blocking sites like The Pirate Bay, and WikiLeaks. Malaysia is one of the world’s strictest governments, even blocking out movies, and television shows. These acts of censorship are inexcusable. You are taking away a basic human right.

The internet is here for freedom, without fear of government interference. Do not think that no one else notices. Your structured government has done the talking, and we hear loud and clear.

Let this be an announcement to all your people. This is a sign, a warning, and an opportunity to listen to ideas above your own.

In a way you are being stubborn. But how will this help anyone or your country.

We fear that if you make further decisions to take away human freedom. We are obligated to act fast and have no mercy. For rules were meant to be broken. And corruption was meant to be washed away and forgiven. Now we will wash your corruption away so be prepared. Take this as a favor.

KUALA LUMPUR - Consumers and Internet users have protested strongly against the decision made by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to block 10 popular file-sharing websites in an effort to combat piracy.

It was reported yesterday that the MCMC had ordered all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block the websites, in a letter dated May 30 and signed by Digital Security Services division acting senior director Eneng Faridah Iskandar.

Consumers Association of Penang president S.M. Mohamed Idris questioned whether in banning the websites, the MCMC had violated the MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantees which gave protection against curbs on Internet freedom.

“Using the Internet providers to block certain websites almost certainly constitutes censorship, which the government has expressly promised it will not do in the past.”

He also said the MCMC should be using its authority to block immoral and harmful content such as online pornography rather than file-sharing sites.

“If the MCMC has the power to block web-sites sharing films and music files, then why is pornographic and disturbing material still freely available online?”

Urban farmer Nigel Boatman, 75, echoed the call for more limits to be placed only on those who accessed online pornography and violent websites.

“The problem with limiting Internet use is that it interferes with people’s rights and liberties.”

Banker Daniel Azizul, 24, said greater effort should be directed towards educating the public about piracy before enforcing the block.

“Malaysia is still a developing country, so we should be going through a step-by-step process in dealing with issues such as piracy,” he said.

Assistant manager Shoba Manokaran, 29, shared similar sentiments although she also acknowledged the toll piracy was taking on the local music industry.

“Perhaps a better suggestion will be to lower the prices of compact discs by local artistes.”

“The Internet should be an open and free system without many restrictions.”

However, sales executive Nazrul Niza Aynor, 32, agreed wholeheartedly with the ban as it would enable the government to combat piracy effectively.

“File-sharing violates the rights of artistes over their property and blocking such sites will make the Internet much safer for users.”

An MCMC spokesperson had said the block had been carried out at the request of the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry.

The websites banned include popular Bittorrent site ThePirateBay.org, Warez-bb.org, move2k.to, Megavideo.com, Megaupload.com, Putlocker.com, depositfiles.com, filestube.com, fileserve.com and duckload.com.

The MCMC could not be reached for further comment.

Malaysia Readies for Anonymous Cyber Attacks 300x300 Malaysia Readies for ‘Anonymous’ Cyber Attacks

The Malaysian government is readying itself after hacktivist group Anonymous has threatened to attack the website and other computer systems of the government, various reports say.

Reuters says that Malaysian police chief Ismail Omar said that authorities have “received word of this threat. There are many agencies involved in this and we will get to the bottom of this.”
Anonymous threatened to hack Malaysia’s government website, under an operation uninspiringly codenamed “Operation Malaysia”, over acts of censorship of the government over the whistle-blower site WikiLeaks. It said its attacks will come 1930 GMT today.
