Sarawak’s leader under investigation for corruption linked to logging
In his 30 years of rule over Sarawak, the western-most state in Malaysian Borneo, Taib has had enjoyed close ties with the logging sector. During that time, Taib and his family members have amassed hundreds of millions of dollars in overseas properties. Campaigners allege the holdings are a direct product of his links to the forestry industry, which has inflicted heavy damage on state’s rainforest and run roughshod over the rights of traditional forest dwellers, including the once-nomadic Penan. Taib has at times resorted to force in breaking up protests by the Penan against logging and oil palm plantation development. He has also greatly restricted press freedoms in the state.

My family is so weird. I’ve said it again and again.
But today, they seriously took the cake.

Dad, Mom, Han and Wei were all sitting around me at this Japanese restaurant, and for some reason Mom and Dad started talking about some girl’s ugly pussy. Ugly, unshaved, hairy pussy. It was like… I was eating SALAD. I WAS EATING.
Why? Why would you talk about that when I’m eating :(
At some point my mom said POSITION on the topic of office politics which everyone mis-heard as *something* else, because of her emphasis on ‘po’ and ‘si’…
And my sister pointed at the scallop fins and asked what they were. But when I answered I said “skin” instead of “fins” and the topic somehow moved on to scallops and their fins being an innuendo for circumcision. Even my brother got the innuendo, and he’s like 14 O_o I thought he was more innocent than that. Oh well~
After a while, we were eating so peacefully, and I was talking about how I told everyone my family was weird. How they were talking about pussies, then scallops… and the moment I said scallops, the waitress popped up with a plate of scallops and said “HERE’S THE SCALLOPS” and my dad just full on burst out laughing, so did my brother. And my sis was laughing too and I was trying to hard to suppress my own laughter and was looking at the very confused waitress… She was like, what so funny about scallops? D: @_@

Occassionally dad would come up for breath from laughing and then he’ll see the scallops and start laughing again. Then after he was just catching his breath again (with my lil bro), I offered for him to de-fin the scallops, and the waitress, coincidentally standing beside our table, overheard and said: “This one (plate of scallops) no skin one!!”
And my dad went PFFT “IT HAS NO SKIN” HAHAHAHAA.
Oh god my family. Mom was just burying herself under the newspaper the whole time. I was just trying to eat. Han was laughing with dad, and Wei was like… *hangs off me while laughing* until she regained composure to eat.
