Seriously. I could go on for days. This would be the best Fleetwood blog around right here.

Proud Mary
I've never been a 'natural' singer. I've always struggled with my voice; and my ear. Even when I got the lead role in one of our productions while I was at the Conservatorium, I heard my first singing teacher's voice in my head saying "Well...You've got your face. And you can dance... so that might just cover it". Bluuugh.
I die every time I have to sing live. My heart quakes, and my stomach houses 500 butterflies.
But...this is a song I'm never shy about. I love it. I imagine Tina in front of me, and just let go and belt it as best I can. It's my fall-back, 'always happy to perform this' number. Cher would be a bonus, but I try to make up for her absence with as many sequins as possible.

"I pulled myself clear..."
I 'met' PJ Harvey when I was young. Young and confused. I played a soundtrack of her songs whilst I moved house, and changed lives; and I've longed for her songs ever since. I guess, sometimes you make a 'match' with a particular artist. I remember, packing up all my belongings; and worrying about what I was doing, and where life was taking me. And I kept playing this song. Over and over. She kept me company. She keeps me company; while I do the best I can. I want to have all her records; an entire backlist.

How many, how many
Forgot how much I used to love M.I.A, until I stumbled out of bed this morning, dying of flu, and needed to get my life together quick smart for an audition later today. Coffee, loads of makeup and this really loudly, and I'm a new doll. Happy days folks! xoxo

It's Me... Cathy
Certain people (who shall remain nameless) get a kick out of playing this, and being a little kung-fu ballerina in the depths of the night.
I love Kate Bush! This is dedicated to my friend, Maryanne Oliver. With much love. xo

Rita Coolidge
When I was growing up, this woman was almost mythical to me. I listened to her on vinyl, and looked endlessly at the photos of her on the record cover.
The song that has ruined me for any other song, (thus far at least), was her cover of the Carpenters hit, 'Superstar', which she performed on Joe Cocker's live album for his 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen' tour (this has been my favourite record of all time since I was about 15 years old. Seriously. I listen to it everyday).
She was his 'Delta Lady', and I actually would like her version of this song to be played at my funeral: that's how much I love it. I've never been able to find it online: Youtube or to download it to my ipod: if anyone has any hints; I'd be beyond appreciative.
Anyway... there were lyrics on the inside of the cover of her record; and they have repeated themselves to me since then; since the first time I read them as a young woman.
From 'That Lady's Not For Sale':
She ain't ashamed to show her soul;
She'll sell it for a song.
But free don't mean she's easy Or ripe for goin' wrong.
So let her be the lady, Lord,
She wants so bad to be.
Let her win the gentle man
That she was born to please.
Amen.
