Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2010

Memang sikap berbudi penarik biji mata,

Tapi sifat yang suci patut diperhati.

I’ve had this bento container laying around for a while...

I’ve had this bento container laying around for a while and figured it’s time I use it a bit more often than usual. Since coming back from Vacation I’ve been such a sloth, but yesterday I spent my evening buying groceries, cleaning up and re-organizing my apartment. Life feels a lot better when it’s a bit more organized. I also packed my lunch for the long day at work today.

I brought some green bell peppers and hummus dip, strawberries, blueberries, and Activia yogurt with a Babybel Lite snack. Not picture: a handful of cashews and baby carrots.

I’ve got a concert to attend this evening after work as well so I hope all of this food tides me over. I was almost scared I brought too much, but now I’m thinking I didn’t bring enough! Today is a busy day, and I just realized that I haven’t eaten any meat in the last couple days! An accidental vegetarian these last few days, and I feel okay with that.

I also donated blood today and ate a nutrigrain bar to curb my hunger afterward. Whenever I donate blood I’m always scared that my iron count will be too low. A few times I’ve been turned away for low iron, and almost rejected for low blood pressure. Thank goodness for multivitamins, because without them I wouldn’t have been able to donate my blood! It’s important for me to give blood because of the sense of satisfaction it provides me. I’ve also learned that I have a rare antigen in my blood, so if anyone needs a transfusion and their antibodies fight off the wrong blood cells, my antigens can help!

On my way to better health!

Boycott Chiquita Bananas

There’s plenty of bananas in local grocery stores or farmer’s markets that are great alternatives. I just read this shocking article detailing Colombian family members claiming that Chiquita Bananas invested the United Self Defense Force, a paramilitary, responsible for the death of over 4,000 relatives. This doesn’t mean that Chiquita Bananas had the intent of killing Colombians by hiring AUC, but hello registered terrorist organization who supports wily donations like those from cocaine trafficing …

In case I’ve somewhat influenced you, click here to locate where other bananas come from.
