I’m visiting friends in Kuala Lumpur and the new Malaysian word that resonates with me while looking at street signs and billboards is JAYA.

Jaya means victory, success or glory in Sanskrit. Pronounced as jha-ya.

Jaya!

I think Jaya is how you define it to be for yourself, not how others define it for you.

Brings me back again to the ahistorical nature of much of American life. We do need to make these connections, in order to make meaning of both our private lives and of our current affairs. Both represented marvelously in this piece.
